Corrosion resistance of aluminum container with lid
Aluminum containers are widely used in many fields, and their lid design enhances the overall performance of the container, among which corrosion resistance is one of its important characteristics.
Aluminum itself is an active metal, but in the air, a dense aluminum oxide film will quickly form on the aluminum surface. This film is only a few nanometers thick, but it is like a natural protective shield. For aluminum container with lid, this aluminum oxide film prevents further contact between foreign substances and the aluminum matrix. In a humid environment, moisture and oxygen are the main factors causing metal corrosion. However, the aluminum oxide film can effectively resist the penetration of moisture and the erosion of oxygen, so that the substances stored in the container can remain stable for a long time.
In terms of food storage, aluminum container with lid may come into contact with various corrosive ingredients, such as acidic substances in food (such as vinegar, lemon juice, etc.) or alkaline substances (alkaline seasonings in some pickled foods). The chemical stability of the aluminum oxide film prevents it from easily reacting with these acidic or alkaline substances, thereby ensuring that the container will not be corroded and the food will not be contaminated.
In the chemical industry, although the stored chemicals are more complex and corrosive, aluminum containers with lids still perform well. As long as the chemicals do not damage the aluminum oxide film or the inside of the container is specially treated (such as coating), the container can resist corrosion well. Moreover, the presence of the lid further reduces the possibility of external corrosive gases or liquids entering the container.
